Zigga What? Zigga Who?
Zigga Zigz has been part of the Edmonton Hip Hop community since 2003. From school talent shows to city events/fundraisers to opening acts, Zigga has been in the Edmonton scene showcasing hip hop performances and as well as dance performances. Zigz is an alumni of the Philippine Barangay Performing Arts Society (11 years) where he took part in Filipino folk dancing, ballroom dancing, and hip hop dancing (B-Trix). Being in Barangay enhanced his performing abilities and stage presence, giving him the tools to captivate his audience with his words and actions.
Zigga Zigz is part of the hip hop group Golden Elements, which was formed in 2003 with members: Joey Dats, Etikid, Jae Maze, Freddy Lebanon, Mythol-O.G., and Lou Vega. Since then, Zigz is now focusing on his solo career. Jae Maze has left the group to focus on solo projects as well and Joey Dats and Etikid have joined together becoming The Greater Good. Being with Golden Elements, Zigga has learned a lot from his peers and has had the opportunity to open for acts such as Fabolous, Mos Def, Nas, and Talib Kweli.
Presently, Zigga Zigz is in works of starting his label, EHH Plus Records; where EHH stands for Edmonton Hip Hop. Zigga has released 2 solo projects, Recognize (2006) and The Prelude to Success (2008). With Golden Elements, Zigga has been part of 4 of their CD releases. Zigz’s present project is his “For the Fun and For the Love” mixtape series. This mixtape will include a variety of tracks ranging from original songs to remixes to mixtape tracks.
